Online Cèilidh – Oidhche nam Bàrd (Free event)

Our first online Cèilidh for 2021 will be on Friday, January 15th at 7:30 p.m. EST – join us for Oidhche nam Bàrd – our second annual celebration of our rich Gaelic bardic heritage. Our special guest for the evening will be Lodaidh MacFhionghain / Lewis MacKinnon. Lewis has the distinction of being the first person outside of Scotland crowned as Bàrd by An Comunn Gàidhealach in a prestigious ceremony held at Am Mòd Nàiseanta Rìoghail (The Royal National Mòd) in 2011 since first established 120 years earlier.
Lewis MacKinnon has been recognised for his contribution to the Gaelic Language, music and culture. He has been involved in numerous Gaelic language initiatives in Nova Scotia and has written songs, music and poetry. He has also taught Gaelic and has written a book of Gaelic poetry in the Nova Scotian Gaelic dialect. Lewis is hugely respected as a Gaelic Scholar on both sides of the Atlantic and is currently Executive Director for Oifis Iomairtean na Gàidhlig / The Office of Gaelic Affairs for the Nova Scotia government.
