This double album features 20 tracks of the piping of Pipe Major William MacLean, who was born of a Raasay family living in Tobermory, Isle of Mull. He went on to win many piping prizes, including the Argyllshire Star at Oban (1898), the Inverness Champion’s Gold Medal of The Highland Society of London (1901), The Highland Society of London Champions Gold Medal for Piobaireachd at Oban (1912) and the Inverness Ex-Champion’s Class (1913). He also won prizes for March, Strathspey and Reel. He became PIpe Major of The 5th Camerons (Lochiel) Highlanders during World War 1.
